Reviving an old favourite

emerald and diamond ring

My customer’s original claw set engagement ring was very thin and the emerald was badly chipped.

Once the emerald had been recut to remove the chips, I realised it was too small in proportion to her diamonds so I sourced a new, beautiful Columbian emerald for the centre.

The ring was remade in a more substantial style with an 18ct gold rub over the setting to better protect the new emerald. The original gold shank was melted down to become part of her new ring.

She was delighted with it and she still has the original emerald, now recut as a round stone, which she plans to use in a more contemporary style ring in the future.
